Türkiye to Expand Cooperation With Cambodia In Health, Agriculture, Environment, Defense

On the afternoon of October 4, Prime Minister Hun Manet, met Turkish Ambassador Ülkü Kocaefe, who said that Türkiye intends to expand the scope of cooperation in areas such as health, agriculture, environment, defense and law enforcement.

She noted that since former Prime Minister Hun Sen’s official visit to Türkiye in October 2018, the cooperation between the two countries has steadily increased, especially in trade. She stressed that Türkiye has also established the first Office of the Adviser on Trade in Cambodia to promote trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. Türkiye has also provided scholarships to Cambodian students, launched the Turkish Cultural Center on the campus of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, and offered Turkish language classes.

The PM thanked the Turkish government for its support and close cooperation during Cambodia’s socio-economic development. He said that under his administration, the Cambodian government continues to support and promote the Cambodia- Türkiye bilateral cooperation, especially on the programs and projects that are being implemented. He said that in return, Cambodia is also studying the possibility of providing scholarships to Turkish students.

During the meeting, the PM also expressed hope that the two countries will strengthen and deepen cooperation in people-to-people relations, education, agriculture and tourism and trade. He encouraged the ambassador to meet directly with the ministers relevant to their shared agenda and added that officials at all levels should meet and share information, which could lead to closer military relations and joint exercises in the future.
